Rena filters

I'm happy with my XP3s (I have 3 of them). They are the best bang for your buck. I've heard some people say that Eheim's are quieter, but my XP3's are pretty quiet. An Eheim may last a little longer (better quality) and be slightly quieter, but I don't think it's worth the extra money. You can buy four XP3's for the price of 1 Eheim PRO III 2180.

Actually you should be able to buy 5 xp3s for the price of one Eheim proIII 2180. But if your gonna compare then compare to a filter that is closer to the xp3 which would be the 2028 pro II at $225 or the 2217 at $125, both those filters also include media. You need to add $20-30 for the media upgrade on the xp3 to compare with eheim.

Boils down to it you could buy a xp3 plus the media or a eheim 2217 for about the same price.

Bderick67 is right. You can't compare the XP3 to the PRO III head's up. I was only using the PRO III (rated for a 320G) to illustrate my point that Eheim's are expensive due to the fact that you can get 4 XP3s (rated for 175G each). Do the math and you get more bang for your buck with the XP3s.
Bderick67: looking forward to seeing your 350G. Your other tanks look awesome!

As long as a filter is quiet, doesn't leak, easy to clean, can hold large volume of bio media, good GPH rate, and run 3yrs or more I don't care if it's Eheim, Fluval,Rena, Marineland, or Cascade. Not too many canister filters can do all of the above I've mention without charging an arm and a leg. The Rena XP3 fits my bill so I will continue to buy Rena. I would buy an Eheim to show off to my fish friends. It's like buying a Mercedes to impress people.:D

I'm running 5 of them, they work great. $99 is a pretty good price.

Plus they are cheap enough that you can keep an extra one on hand for emergency spare parts.
