Rena Smart Heaters???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
why not just get a heater guard?

or put the heater in the sump? (if u have one)

No sump for me, don't have the know how or bravery to try one. I think I'm gonna go with three XP4's for filtration.

I may just try to make heater guards of some kind, but when I came across this smart heater I thought that might be a good option for a ray's tank.

I have the rena heaters in all my tanks. LFS had 200 watt for 15 and 150 watt for 13. Highly recomend for stingrays.Dont be afraid of sumps. If you have any problems or questions more than enough peopke here can help. The maint. is super easy.

i have two rena smart heaters to both of my cannisters. i also have them fully submerged down in my tank so when i do a wc only the very top of them are getting out of the water. i like these heaters if you dont have a sump as they act like the intake of your cannister and are the heater so at least you in a way remove some of the items on your back wall. also they fit more than just the xp's i have an xp and another type of cannister on mine. plus the red indicator light is nice to know your tank is at the correct temp. you wont be disapointed with these.

Sounds good, SaucerQueen. I think I will try them out after all.

After reading the earlier explanations about these heaters, I thought they HAD to be setup at the top of the intake tube so that the top of the heater was out of the water. If you're able to set them lower down by replacing one of the intake tube's segments with the heater itself that would be ideal!
