I keep mine at 78 for the oscars as they prefer the warmer temps it seems and my green terrors colors really popped with the higher temp so keeping it there.

I try to stay just south of 80 in case ich or somethign else breaks out so that I have room to bump up the temp without stressing my catfish or Oscars too much...
Ah, when my pleco caught ich I bumped the tanks to 85 for a good 2 weeks or so & everything seemed fine.
I think I read somewhere that 80* promotes growth or something like that for my bichirs and maybe breeding for my convicts. Really its one of my most uninformed decisions in fish keeping...I should probably look further into the temperature...

My pleco does not care about the temp as much as my catfish do so I have to watch out for them. I agree that temps in tanks though is normally one of the more looked over aspects.
I got it from thatpetplace, 2day shipping & its supposed to ship out today. So hopefully by wednesday, thursday at the latest I have the new heater. They were out of the 200w anyways so I did get the 300. We'll see how it goes
