Rena Xp3 became noisy all of a sudden!

Howdy,

Do you have snails in your tank? My Eheims never had problems, but I don't know about Rena. I have a cheapo hanging filter on my quarantine tank, and snails like to go on a roller coaster ride every once in a while ... better safe than sorry, take it apart, clean it thoroughly, and see if that helps.

Good luck,
HarleyK

And once again #1 in the canister category: Eheim  I don't know what it is, they either have more clearance to allow snail passage, or Eheim purees them ... either way, no problem!

:D

ps
possible Eheim owners with snail-blocks impeller problems: This is your time to shut up and enjoy the glory :woot: Just kidding. I am curious if this really is a brand issue, so bring it on! :feedback:

i guess this thread is about over, but here is my 2 cents. i have 4 fluvals and they will on a very rare occasion make a little noisr. i will tip the canister on its bottom edge about 45degrees for about 3 seconds and tthe noise will go away generally. if not i just take apart and clean. BTW everybody seems to have a hard time getting fluvals to prime. make sure the hoses are filled with water, fill the canister half way with water, plug in cord and it will startup all by itself within seconds. never had a problem doing it this way.

thx for the tip scottchistian i have a couple fluvals still in amongest my eheims they are the hardest to prime sometimes except for my eheim wet dry canistor thats in a class on its own hardest canistor to get running if get an air lock never take it apart now just shake it to get the hevay detris from the bottom up..

for the xp3 i prime it by lifting the lever (should be plugged off) and fill the tube. once the tube/hose is filled up just push the lever down and the water will siphon by itself. wait until it stops siphoning and plug the outlet. don't know about the other models fo fluval. i'm now thinking of changing my canister to wet and dry... seems a lot easier. need to sell mine first but i'll loose money since i just got it 3 weeks ago. :(

i was able to fix but i think if would be easier to clean a wet/dry filter. kinda sucks if i need to bring out the whole canister to clean it every month, i just had an epedemic of ick and killed all my king tiger pleco L66 and some more exotic plecos which cost me so much :( , that 2 weeks alone i needed to clean my canister almost every 3 days and it kinda piss me of coz it's not convenient in my side. lets just say i'm lazy :grinno:
