I have notice the popularity of the Rena XP3 canister with a lot of the American members I have had Eheims on all my tank and a sump on the other also this tank has a Eheim on it, but I bought an xp3 about 4 years ago and have nothing but grief with it for no reason at all its leaked 4-5 times some times days after a filter change every time I have had to remove the seal and replace it have I just got a dud or has any one else come across this or am I just the lucky one:( .

I'm not a fan of the XP3.
I think i'll just use it for gravel vacs.....that's all its' worth IMO lol

My Xps work fine. I have had them running for like 2 yrs with no problems at all. They keep my tanks clean and clear- and for $80, I'll buy five of em before I buy another Eheim. Eheims are nice and quite but they coast about 2-3x more for similar products. Same goes for the parts. When I get replacment pads for my ProII, it costs around $20:eek:

I new we'd get the XP fanboys in here;)

Funny story about mine.... I took it off of a tank that I took down. I wanted to keep the filter established so I put it on another tank and WAHLA! the tank I put it on has crap floating around in the water now.

the rena xp3 is my first canister filter, running my 60 gal tank with a handful of fish inside. i had mine for almost a year now. and i would surely say it is one excellent filter to have. price is very reasonable and filtration wise, my tank is crystal clear and keeps my fish health and growing fast. i power feed my fish 2x a day with tons of food. and i haven't opened it for 3 months with no problem in my water.:D

You could buy 2 or maybe 3 xp3 against an eheim filter... and 3 xp3's in a tank is a lot of filtration compared to one eheim... and worst comes to worst if one break down you got two more, on the other hand with eheim.. if it breaks down you're done for it. unless you do have a primary filter which is your wet/dry filter. which would mean more $$$ out of your pocket.:(

for eheim lovers, i do respect your opinion on the filter, it has been said that it has a well established reputation.:) on the other hand, it is way too expensive to have. the price eheim is asking is a good size wet/dry filter.. which is much better than eheim or other brand you want to name on against a wet/dry filter.

your leaking problem might have been a bad gasket or for whatever reason it may have cause it.. i really don't know. but if it did leak on you for the last 4 years you should have asked for a replacement or sold it and got another type of filter.:)

for the people who did not enjoy xp3 sorry to hear that. eheim is good but not on your bank account. :(

HEY! I was enjoying the only negative XP3 thread, you're raining on my parade!!!

 LET ME HATE THEM!!!!
