Rena XP3/XP4 Impeller Upgrade

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
you might want to fire rena an e-mail too. they might have a good reason for the gph they already have.

higher gph might not be a good thing.

Good luck on it! I will definately be upgrading to this impeller if it makes a big diff. Rena XP's are great filters but they clog easily and the flow does suck.

Mine used to clog easily, then I took out the "cloth" filter pad, probably for water polishing, and it never clogs. I also drilled out the holes in the spray bar a little.

I'm kind of interested in the results as well

You may want to keep an eye on the motor, if it gets hot when you swap the impeller. The size of the hose effects the flow rate. Assume the new impeller increase the flow rate, but the hose stay the same, it may constrict the flow, causes the motor to get hot

I left Rena a question about this. Will keep an eye on the motor heat. The XP3 and XP4 have the same size hose and motor but different impellers and flow rates, correct? If so, the RIO impeller should (theoretically) be okay....

the impellar from a rio 2100 fits the xp4 perfectly. ive done it and the results was that i got better flow rate that the impeller that was in the rena. my thoughts are that it may have something to do with the impellars, but i do know if thats the fact.

i'm pretty certain you won't burn the motor up but i'm curious to see what rena has to say. i was thinking it might have something to do with media performance, just a guess though.

i don't understand, did you get better flow from the rena with the stock impeller or with the rio impeller?

did you measure the difference?
