Hi has anyone used the Rep Pro UVB self ballasted mercury vapour bulb. They have just been stocked in my LFS and are half the price I normally pay. Will be used above Chelonia.

ive used power sun bulbs from zoo med with good luck

I also use ZooMed's Power Sun MV bulbs with good results!

In my experence with these bulbs, they are fantastic. Whats real good about them is that they have 6 feet penatration. I currently use 6 of these 150 watts ones on my red foot enclosure. I can even grow plants like palms and other high light plants like citrus trees, with these lights. They are also good for basking fish like discus or gars had 2 of them on a discus tank i had set up for someone and his fish really had great color and bred for him. These lights could also be used in a bird room best alternative to natural sunlight.

On Chelonia?

I haven't tried them on Chelonia, but I do use them on Veiled Chameleons, my tegu, turtles(2 eastern painteds and 2 maps), bearded dragons, and house plants that I bring indoors during the winter months. Myself and friends have/do use them for their Parrots (the birds, not the little genetic freak of a fish) as well.

Never thought about using them on parrots. I have a couple of macaws, an eclectus and 3 amazons so looks like I will have to splash out on a few bulbs for them. They are $70 here which is half what T Rex actives I normally use!!

Man do you have you hands full with those birds!

They run about $70 here as well.

I have 6 dogs as well, Bullmastiff, Sharpei, Pug and 3 Terriers. The parrots bark like all of them and call them in from the garden.
Mad House....................... lol
