I bought a 120g tank that was built in 1993. The silicon on the inside of the tank in two of the corners is kind of crumbling and pulls away from the glass easily when I run my finger down it. Should I do a leake test and leave it if it holds or go ahead and replace it while the tank is empty? If I need to replace it do I need to take the glass apart or just take the old seal off as much as i can with a razor and silicon it up?

what i am doing is to separate all the parts using a guitar string and remove all the silicon, and put them back together again

re do the entire tank. I beleive most people just clean the insides without taking the tank apart, otherwise u might end up having to buy new moldings all around.

that is an awesome idea!

if you want a clearer view and have an extra cash, replace the front panel with a new one

hmmm, I should have practiced this one. i got one seam done and it was horrible. i'll cut it out tomorrow and try again. i can tell that this is going to be a pain in the @$$!

If it gets to messy put some tape down where you dont want the silicone to go. Lay a bead, use a finger and push it in walla perfect seam.
