Thanks vanimate! mine measures at 7/16 so I guess its not that old.I got lucky with a really helpful local chain store employee who called the aga rep while I was there and he said there should be no problem changing the top frame,and since the top and bottom are the same on that tank the thickness shouldnt matter anyway!! I ordered it for $33 with tax and it should be in thursday.
Got the frame its the new style with 2 braces,resealed the tank and installed it no problem.Planning on refinishing the stand this week and setting it up.
one thing that old frame?take a guess what holds the corners together?
STAPLES!!!!! 4 staples in each corner no epoxy nothing thats it.Im sure its not something the previous owner did,they tried to seal the leak by rubbing silicone into the corner from the outside while the tank was half full they cetainly didnt staple the frame.
