Replaced my lava rocks was a good idea

Im going for a Fish-only tank so live plants ain't an option. I only switch on the lights for like 2~4 hours a day so live plants wouldn't survive in there.

On an interesting note, my ornate is also nervous about my presense too. Whenever I feed them, the ornate would always hide at the back and refuse to come forward to eat as long as I'm not around.

Now this is worrying me as I feed the bichirs vias a feeding tube made out of spare canister strainers and output tubes. It is attached to the front side of the wall using suction cups and I would throw down a few sinking pellets for them to eat.

The delhezi and senegals would always be at the front directly below the tube end, ready to capture any pellets. But my ornate is reclusive... I have to add a few pellets, go all the way back to my bed and view it feeding with a binocular. My mum gave me the weird look whenever she comes in my room to see me laying down on the bed with a binoculars watching my fishes. She thinks im :screwy:

I have the time to do this currently since there is no school. But im worried that once school start, I won't be able to monitor it and it could die from starvation due to being outcompeted for food.

Lights and movement spook mine.

WOW its true. I put in the food, switch on the midnight light and press my face against the tank and hold absolutely still.

He just comes to the front to get the pellets. So it isn't that he don't love me. Just that he don't love my movement. :D

I much prefer the image of you sitting on your bed with the binocular!

I think as long as you do it with your pants on, you'll be okay!
But maybe they will get used to seeing your face, so eventually, they will be more personable? That would be awesome!
