Has anyone here been to a reptile expo? I've always seen people going to them in magazines and the discovery channel and such, but besides Reptileguy, I havent talked with anyone who actually has been to one. What are they like? How are the prices? and are they anywhere north of the Carolinas? When ever I hear of any cool looking expo, its always in the south :(. thanks alot,

New York Metro Reptile Expo, April 23. Like gem shows you can find both good and bad deals, you have to know the general prices. Here is a link. http://www.reptileexpo.com/

go every other month you can get some great deals on some amazing herps i do pa and maryland shows

i've done these shows for fish and have had my own booths at simalar shows you can get some great deals go in early check it all out and if theres something you want wait till the end these guys are tired and want to pack up as little as possible ..

Theyre pretty cool. I got a Columbian boa for $50 one time. You have to know who to talk to so they show you the good stuff.

yup thats what i do especially if they have not sold much i got my friend a $1300 sunglow boa for 700 at the end of a show the guy didnt make much money that day so was eager for cash

Thanks alot guys! I've gotta check this baby out for myself. I'll get some buddies together, and take a trip up. Man- this is the best part about this site. Ask one question, and youll have a bunch of answers from people who KNOW stuff. Thanks alot,

Can Anyone recomend a good rept. to bring to college? I'm on the fence, I'd either like to bring a reptile or buy a nano cube and either hold host to a yellow head jawfish or an African butterfly fish. I'm looking for a few things in a pet id bring to college.. fairly easy care, something that could on occasion skip a meal once its established, something COOL, something other that a leopard geck... :( I've had enough of em, and something that wouldnt be able to kill a room mate.. outright that is, :). Thanks for the suggestions, I'm eager to hear what you have to say!

Tokay gecko

I go to reptile shows every month and I love em. I buy reptiles from these shows so I don't have to settle for "pet store" quality herps. Don't get me wrong, you can get a good reptile from a pet store but, its always better to get them from the breeder or at least someone who knows a little something about reptiles.

And a Tokay gecko is a good idea. They are colorful and feisty. And your room mates won't want to hold it all the time once it bites them once.
