I need a reptile for a 10 gallon tank, and I want one that I can handle with no problems, a very big thing is a lot is forbidden because my parents are very strict on what I can get. I think my only 2 options are a frog or a newt. Any ideas for them? I like pac man frog of pixie frog,

Pacman frogs I say a 20 gallon but you wouldnt really be able too hold it because its can dehydrate also I dont think there are any lizards that are handleable that can live in a 10 gallon if you are okay with a 20 or 30 gallon maybe you could get a leopard gecko, african fat-tailed gecko, crested gecko, maybe a panther gecko, hope this helps.

I make sure my terrarium is nice, so if I hold him for like 10 minutes I think he’ll be fine. What I’m worried about with them is their skin is fragile. I can’t really do lizards and don’t really like leopard geckos or fat tailed geckos. Thanks for the reply!

Well I think your good then but remember you cant hold it like every day I recommend every 2 days and if anything if you want something similar too a lizard but more like a fish get newt or salamander. Also salamanders are mostly terrestrial species (exceptions Axolotls, hellbenders, giant chinese salamander, etc) and newts spend the majority of their time underwater some species are even fully aquatic.

10 gallons seems too small for most frogs and critters. Would maybe use it for a terrarium, can grow your aquatic plants in a humid environment out of water.

I would go to the pet store and hold a frog for about 10mins. See how enjoyable this really is. Maybe a insect or arachnid?

Reptiles as pets are my biggest regrets, not to mention will be my longest with 50+ years life expectancy on the ball python.

Frogs and newts aren't reptiles, they're amphibians.

You can keep a leopard gecko perfectly healthy in a 10 gallon tank, though they might prefer a 20 long. Just be careful about heating it. You always want a warm end and a cool end. Leopard geckos are nocturnal, so they don't require UV lamps like some reptiles, they do require a balanced diet with calcium and vitamin D supplementation. You may be able to find some that accept pellet diets if you look for captive bred specimens.

I went to the petco near me and held a pac man frog and really enjoyed it. It didn’t jump and just sat there really. I like them a lot. I do wanna do a terrarium and get a pac man frog and maybe upgrade him when he gets bigger.
