hey guys, i live in Canada and soon there is going to be the first winter for both me and my gargoyle gecko, and im not sure how cold the terrarium is gonna be. I've heard of heat cables to keep it warm so i wouldn't freeze its little butt off, so im wondering if anyone here has had any experience with this cable and could tell me how well it works, or if there is another heating method besides this one that wouldnt get too hot or cold, any help is apreciated :D

heat cables generally work fine. You have to select one whose power ( wattage ) is adequate to your terrarium.

Some guys put it in coils under the glass, some, on the other hand bury it in the substate.

I wouldn't know the best method for your Gecko, however...someone will surely show up

I use heat cables to heat my leopard gecko rack system I keep my babies in. It does a pretty good job and I agree you need to get a thermostat to adjust for the desired temperature.

A ceramic lamp is good too for geckos, also needs termostat:D

Yea kind of over kill;) But remenbar that there is all sort of wattages:D

i had one wrked good but initially i put it under my cage and it started to over heat. so i think in the substrate or on the walls works better. the one i had go real hot too but worked god with a therm.
