I know it's too late but I highly recommend a blue-tongue skunk. Very docile, tons of personality, omnivores that do fine on dog food & table scrap veggies, live over 20 years. Hardy as can be, 2 feet length but relatively sedentary - a 55 will last a lifetime. All you need is a good spot heat source.
They have tiny legs do you need not worry about it quickly fleeing, like corns or milks. Handle it first to be sure it is tame & about 90 percent are tame from the get-go & never bite. To to it off, they, they are cute - my twin 6yo's play with mine all the time. And their namesake blue tongue, which it regularly flicks is amazing. They usually go at shows for $125-$150 for both babies & adults. However, if you need. gotiate they can be had for $75-$100
However you can't go wrong with a corn, they are attractive, active, easily tamed & hardy as can be & a bargain for even a show quality one.
Whatever you got enjoy - if you are like me there will be more to follow.
