hey guys...
i m Johnny. from singapore. Are there any Singaporean members here who know where i can get any reptiles in singapore ?
reptiles, other than the red eared slider..
Thanx guys.
and yes, i would also liek to know what reptiles u guys would recommened for a beginner.
Thank you very much ppl.

Hi wellcome to the board. If I remenbar correctly most reptiles were ilegal to keep in Singapore, I hope the law changed since then

well...
most reptiles are certainly illegal.. but apprently, green trr frogs are legal it seems
and i do not noe where to obtain the. the only reptiles legal are the malayan box turtle, red-eared terrapins and this tree frog..
bt of coz...
the most popular, but illegal one is leopard gecko. the authorities are confiscating them by the hundredes every year

Wow thats really bummer, I only keep leos for a copple of years and Im already adicted, cant imagen not having one. You guys MUST ask the Singapore autoritys to rectify their laws regarding reptiles like signing a online paper or something. A good law to follow is Great Britain law regarding animals witch in my opinion is one of the best ones. Leopard geckos dont pose any threat to humans and evoirement alike, they would never survive outside in a moist climate like Singapore. Others like green igs would be a bigger consern but with critters like them all they would need to do is allow a few in as founder stock, ban all the other imports and then bred them with records, register and microships and price them expensevly. But as of now malayan boxys are GREAT turtles, if you can get cb ones they are owesame turts to start, sliders are very fun to have as well.

ohokie...
i reali wish i cld haf a leopard gecko..
i mean, we cant even haf native reptiles like those garden lizards or small snakes as well

in recent years they have allowed us to keep white's tree frogs and malayan box turtles. but if anything i think stuff like leos and beardies would pose less of a threat to our native species if released.
basically the governing bodies dont give a crap about our right to keep herps. heck, chewing gum is against the law here.

to stay on topic, johnny - even the legal "exotic" animals are ridiculously hard to find here. get in touch with LFS owners who might be able to point you in the direction of white's tree frogs/malayan boxes turts.
of course, there're other ways to get exotics. but you already know why that's a bad idea.

of coz...
i mean, ani1 can get a rep illegally here man.. my fren was offered a red bellied newt from an aquarium... hahaha
anw, wat is LFS ?

LFS: local fish shop/store
red bellied newts have to be on the safe side of the spectrum :D they're sold, along with ACFs pretty freely at a farm in pasir ris.
by the way if you come across those box turts, let me know? i'm a little tired of sliders.
i didnt mention this before, but there are a number of legal fly river turtles here. specimens that were imported before the ban are grandfathered in. they are not to be sold for money but i believe it is alright to adopt them. usually this happens when the turt gets sick or too big, so that may not be a good idea for you anyway.
