I was thinking of the marginals, in particular how the markings on the underside appear. Usually, the spaces between the spots are wider than the spots themselves. This specimen's spots aren't even separated. You are correct about the plastron though, the main part of the plastron is usually pretty similar between both troostii and elegans.

That appears both in scripta and in troosti acording to individual variation, there isnt really a big diference.
