rescaped my biotope

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Impressive pics. We're still on the process of reinstating the POTM contest so watch out for that! Your pics are definitely worth entering it for.

have you been keeping track of your tetra population? Ive always wanted to do discus tetra combo but I just cant seem to trust cichlids no matter how docile, and especially yours since their wild right?

btw beautiful setup

wowza!
nice tank. id love to keep discus but they too hard to keep for a noob like me...that and they cost 200 a piece here lol

thanks all. vspec, I have frogbit, mini lillies, and Brazillian pennyworth. as for the lemons, they scatter on occasion but usually stay pretty tight. they use the middle to lower parts of the tank. they just stay out of the way of the discus. the lemons are pretty big which is why I chose them instead of cardinals or rummies. 25 from the start and going into the fourth month with the discus, all accounted for.

pennywort, yup, thats the one I was thinking, who knows where i came up with liverwort., guess im just lucky its still a plant of some type, or else i would have looked like a total ****..lol

Can eat that Brazilian variety? Pennywort is a brain food they say, pinch a leaf sprig a day. I was looking into a strain for down here some time back that i could deploy. I didn't find it the easiest thing to purchase retail. It seemed to fall under "old school" category.

Thanks for the insight though bud. appreciate it. Your skills are clearly advancing, however the real question is - you as the habitational engineer, you happy with it. Juts like a clay carving, what would you like add or subtract?

well, as far as the scape, I don't plan on changing anything but with me you never know, lol. I would love a school of hatchett's to fill the top layer but I have an open top. those fish will be carpet surfing in no time. I'm thinking a school of serbei cory's or some dwarf cichlids ( apisto's). don't think I want German Rams. tried them in the past and had no luck with them. I would like to off set the yellowish colors of the discus and lemons but besides the blue rams I don't know what's out there. I am open to suggestions. looking for S.A. species that won't harm or stress my discus.

Absolutly stunning tank!! Very well done! How are you hiding/what are you using for filtration if you don't mind my asking? Sorry if I missed it.

We need to get you into eartheaters :D ;)

jk47, I'm not really hiding anything. the intake and smart heater on the xp3 are black. I painted the intake on the Ehiem myself and it's a thermo w/ built in heater. even looking at the tank live you really can't see anything except the red light from the smartheater. the spraybars are partially hidden by the plants.
