Just rescued an Oscar. He is in bad shape. Anyone help with ideas to give this guy a chance. Or is it too late. Sorry for bad pics but my camera is down.

Bump!

Doesn't look like he will make it through the night. Just have to wait and see what happens. Just laying on bottom not even interested in food.

Is that HITH or was he beaten up? Cant tell from the pics. Either way turn the temp up add salt and stresscoat and keep the lights off.

insane amounts of water changes and a varied diet including good pellets. He'll sulk for a few days, but I bet you can fix him up if you stay dedicated.

Thanks Rally, I just got him this evening. He was unwanted due to condition. Looks like a really bad case of HITH. Just never seen it so bad in one so small. I've got him in solitary, clean water, salt, heat and melafix. Major daily water changes not an issue if it will help, he has really nice color around all the gaping wounds.

Was he in a fish store or owned by someone you know?

If your using melifax, I dont believe your supose to do a w/c Untill the 7 day treatment is up. I'm not 100% sure though. Your best bet would be to do what every one above me has posted; clean water, varied diet, salt, raise the temp, add some more oxygen.

Please keep us informed with what happens
