Rescue Oscar Help!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well, not sure if he is improving or not but seems to a little. Took 2 days but he finally ate something. I also seem to have a nocturnal oscar. Turn the light on and he sits on the bottom sulking. Turn it off and he starts swimming like he is hunting. Got to charge the camera battery so I can get some good pics.

poor guy. like milkman stated, i dont think you do water changes while dosing with melafix.. but im not sure.. whatever the bottle states.. let us know how this little guy does! i cant believe someone left him in that condition!!

yea that guy has seen better days im sure. about the melafix and water changes...u can prolly do a waterchange as often as u want as long as u put the melafix back into the water. if u do a 50% change u should but in whatever half a dose of fix is.

Here are some better shots that show the damage.

OMFG.... Im suprised that that specific coloration of oscar was neglected... or found....,. if you get him back to good health... find another lemon and breed them....

Thanks Tylervsmith. I'm going to try and nurse him back to health. Will just wait and see what happens. If anyone has suggestions I'ld love to hear them.

let us know what happens to him. his coloring is just beautiful, but he is so messed up he barely looks like an oscar! i hope someone can give you some good help, id love to see this little guy pull through... believe it or not, i think he may be able to. I had a male venustus on the brink of death for over a week (foggy eyes, shreaded fins and tail and he was upside down for 2-3 days) and he recovered and is a beauty.. so if mine made it, i bet your fish can...

keep us up to date on him!

Well he's not out of the woods yet, but starting to show typical oscar traits again. He just removed the thermometer from the side of the tank. Since it's a bare hospital tank that's one of the few things for him to redecorate.
