Sorry to dig up a bloody old post but I've been trying to get local LFS to advice me on Arapaimas and they seem more eager to sell the fish rather than answer any of my questions.

Finally a fellow Malaysian who seems to be the local expert on monster fish. I've got a few questions regarding Arapaimas, etc and I was deciding between a tiled pond or natural pond. I've never seen someone own such a big lake; how come your neighbors houses are all regular houses or do they belong to your staff or something? And why do you have no fishing signs and public dustbins around your lake for? Do you get trespassers?

I actually have 10-15 questions regarding keeping this fish in Malaysia as all the info is based on people overseas and finally I've found someone with local experience.

Btw, I was in Curtin from '01 to '05 and lived in South Perth

Dude, this website is the best! It really sucks living in the US where you can't get ANY of those fish that you guys have legally =/. I should just go over and fish in your pond, lol.

im glad u like the website! u can learn so much about fish here! really opens many doors for ure fish hobby! get sum smaller garfish tht can live with ure arowana they are cool.

Alright, I'm no where near as rich as you and my mom hates fish that need to eat other fish to stay alive. She's kind of wierd in a way but shes the best. Do you know how I can get over this obstacle so I can get the gars?

my mum is the EXACT SAME WAY! she hates feeding live food cuz of karma. but seriously i hate feeding live food as well...its expensive, higher risk of disease and impractical. i teach all my fish to eat dead food (ie. dead fish or PELLETS!). i managed to train my gars to eat pellets wen they were babies...now they eat cheap dead fish from the market! its so much better

Oooohhh, okay lol. WHat type of fish do you usually buy? Because I might be able to convince my mom too buy a lot of them too put in the freezer so I might be able to feed to the fish! ANd how much are they usually?

oh bro u live in florida tho...just any small, cheap fish u cant get from the market...if ure feeding it to babies then get smaller fish with soft bones..i have noooo idea wat fish they sell in florida but every market is different!

Lol alright, I might just have to go and use a cast net to catch some sardines or something. Most likely not soon but someday!
