Largest recorded close to 20 feet a long time ago.
They are rare over 15 feet now due to taking so many of the largest out of the gene pool, and the time it takes to grow that size (they get 8-10 feet quickly in a few years, then REALLY slow down).

The largest I've worked with was 14 feet and a touch over 400 lbs.
Hey there Zoodiver any pics of these 14ft pimas you've worked with as thats an almost unbelievable fish. I have seen pics of 3m fish but 14ft is amazing.
What size are these fish now?
Please post some pics as this would settle alot of doubts about the true size of this species.
As they say a picture tells a thousand words.

wonder if I would buy an arapaima 6" and place it with a clown knife?

depends on the size of your tank and the clown knife.
but it's better not to risk putting them together.

shud be OK if the arapaima is bigger than the clownknife...but not so much bigger that it cud eat it.
