lol, thought they looked a little off from the google search for jack dempseys... The Original buyer bought them as jsck dempseys, so thats what I was told I was getting...

those are most defiantly carpintis, and yes they are very aggressive. I wouldn't suggest having any tank mates with them especially when they are breeding as that breeding just increases their aggression level.

yeah, they are on their own right now, I was hoping to put them with my red bellied pacu and a Venezuelan pike cichlid once they reach full size.
Unless you have a huge tank (I hope you do for the Pacu's sake) probably not a good idea with the carpintis pair. Maybe and I do mean maybe it could work with one or the other but not the pair. It's more the pacu I'd be concerned about with aggression. Most pike cichlids can hold their own unless they are largely out-sized by the other fish.
Yeah, my pacu is a pretty mellow guy. What size tank would be appropriate for the cichlid pair in the long run?
