Rescued this Chaca Catfish Today-I think it's going to die though

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i hope that beautiful creature makes it.

He looks pretty chunky and I don't see any signs of disease. Are you sure he isn't playing dead until lights-out?

It's a pity, I had another one. When did you get it? Which are parameters of water in your aquarium? Chaca catfish are more sensitive in high concentration of nitrats. How often do you change water? Chaca catfish eats only fish feeders, not wafers or "bottom spills" as last picture. If someone achieve to feed your chaca catfish with wafers, would like to explain me. Good luck, but it's complicated.
I forget one more, chaca are totally nocturnals. Bye.

Try worms (nightcrawlers) they love them.

This morning he's in the same exact spot and position he was last nite...he hasn't moved one millimeter. He's just laying there barely breathing.

that sux bro. can you turn the tank up 5 degrees and leave the lights off?
It may just take some time

Sounds pretty much like what Chaca do, thats not much as they are a ambush predator, hope it starts feeding for you.

did he eat at all?

No :(

I could...if you think it would help.

I'm wondering why the concern in getting this sick fish to eat?. Seems counter productive in trying to save this fish.

It's not really that important. I just don't want him to die.

He's laying at the bottom of the tank on the sand. I can reach in and pick him up with my hand and he lays there limp. No wiggling or squirming or anything. Is that how they always are? Are you sure?
