Rescued Turtle

Hello everyone, please say hello to Sheldon. I rescued him after he was abandoned in a parking lot and left to die. He was in a 10 gallon aquarium with no water and just a few rocks on the bottom. He is about 8 inches long. I believe he is some sort of sideneck turtle. Not exactly sure what he is. I have him temporarily in a tub with water, a few patio blocks to bask on and a light. This is just till I find out what to do with him.

That looks like a diamondback terrapin (Malaclemys terrapin ssp.) to me.

He does look like a DBT. I was thinking a sideneck but now that you mention it I am wrong I think.

Thanks, I currently have him in a tub in my backyard. He loves swimming lol. I am going to bring him to the vet most likely tomorrow.
