Hey guys

I have had some bad luck over the past few years with my 225 gallon tank leaking on me twice so far. So I have gotten up enough courage to do it one last time. My question is about bracing the tank came with two pieces of glass that were just siliconed to the top of the tank to act as cross braces. my qustion is would just siliconing those back in be enough bracing for the tank or should I consider putting a brace around the whole top of the tank. I will post pics when I get a chance.

what is the glass thickness? Was the tank a manufactured tank or a homemade job? If it was manufactured with the two braces originally should be okay to build it back that way.

The thickness of the glass is 5/8 temperd an the tank size is 6'X2'X2'. As for it being a home made tank or manufactured I have no clue

I don't think that the bracing all around the top is necessary but it couldn't hurt. And a 6x2x2 is a 180 by the way.

are you taking the tank apart or just resealing the inside seam?

oops my bad the tank it is 6'x30"x 2'

ok what would be a good brace to go around the top of the tank ?

I was planning on just resealing it not taking it apart

an that Euro brace is kinda what they did on this tank except the glass braces were cut to fit the top inside of the tank

I have made a few tanks and just put three pieces of glass across the top. One on each end and one in the middle running front to back. That is probably the easiest. The glass shouldn't flex as long as there is braces in the center. The flex in the middle of the front and back is what your trying to prevent.

ok then thanks for the Big-G
I will keep this all in mind my I start this weekend
