So I got this 35 hex which needs resealed. I've sealed regular tanks before but not hexes. If the glass touches on the inside then wouldn't I put the silicone on the outside for the upright columns of glass? Instead of the usual where you put the silicone on the inside of a rectangular tank.

Thanks.

I just picked up the same tank and it needs to be resealed too. LOL

I won't get it inside til later tonight, If you figure it out post up.
If I start mine I'll let you know what I'm going to do.

I just got the hex inside.
Originally, the sealant penetrated toward the outside of the glass between the panes, but was not sealed from the outside.

I'm going to cut out the old silicone and reseal it as usual.
Tape the side seams for a nice clean look and keep the same width as original.

Lol nice. What size....same tank I'm assuming 35 then. I would love to have a 70 hex or something larger but this thing seemed huge even when I picked it up. The silicone is still there just cracking, didn't want to chance it. Mine even came with a stand...I painted it blue. We'll have to post pics, lol.

After closer inspection of the hex, it's sealed on the inside and outside. So the plan is to take seal the inside first then the outside. So we'll see.

My tank is 25" tall and 20" wide. I picked it up for $30., it came with a stand, light, under gravel filter plate, and a gravel vac.
The best part was I only had to travel 5 minutes to pick it up.

The guys wife made him get rid of it because it leaked and ruined the carpet, she wanted it out of the house. The PO tried to seal it from the outside and it still leaked. The water pressure just pushed it off.

Did you get it sealed. I've been lazy/busy. I cleaned it out yesterday just have to get the old silicone off now. I'm going to put tape on the outside of where the glass meet each other. That way when I resilicone it on the inside it'll push through and stop when it hits the tape on the outside. It'll keep it all smooth on the outside. Well I hope. lol

This will be me and my GF's first tank together. My GF just read my last sentence and said "aww". Wierdo. lol

I resealed a 50 gallon corner tank. on these tanks the glass does not butt up like on a normal tank, so when you take the silicone out there is a gap. You will see this when you do yours. I sealed from the inside first, and then waited about an hour for the silicone to harden some, and then I sealed from the out side. The tank has been running for about a month, and I haven't had any problems.

My tank has had water in it since the end of feburary. It's filled with fish and doing well.
I 'd like to get a bigger hex. There was an 80 hex on CL for $100. last week but the poster never responded back.:irked:

Yeah I see how I will be able to see through it. Thanks for the help.
