hello everyone,

I just received an email from some guy saying he has a 150g tank that needs re sealed due to a minor leak through the seam towards the bottum. how hard is it to reseal and what are the steps to doing it the right way? if there is a thread posted on here on a tutorial on how to reseal a seam and you have the link that would be awesome or if you no how to do it and could give me a walk through. If its easy and you can trust it not to leak then Ill buy it depending on how much he wants. and while on that topic how much do you think I should offer him for it since it leaks.

he said he wants $200 for it is that still a good deal??

Well it all depends if its a main seal or a secondary seal leak. If its the main seal you need to completely remove the bottom glass and clean all the silicone away then use a good GE 1200 silicone and lay a new main bead. Problem is the glass is half inch and it weighs a ton. Getting it to set right is the real challenge. I just did the main on my 200.

No thats a bad deal I have a 150 that i resealed and I got it free with the stand. Just explain the amount of work that goes into resealing a tank.

For a non-leaking 150G, I wouldn't pay more than $150. The tank is used, not new.

If the glass is in good condition (not overly scratched up or cloudy/etched), I would start at $110.

okay cool how do you know if its a main or 2ndary seal?

He wants $250 for it delivered. how can I talk him down in price??

I would not give him $200.00 for a tank that size that need to be resealed. It is possible that that call the sealant may have to come out and be resealed.

okay it comes with the filters and everything I just kind of thought it would be a pretty good deal. however he wants $250 for it to be delivered and I just cant see paying that much for a fish tank
