resealing tanks!

Yeah, it helps, but you can still make a mess! I've never used tape and I get pretty decent results. Of course, having a good, consistent, correct-sized bead of silicone is crucial.

Where did you buy the black silicone? I've seen tanks sealed with the stuff, looks pretty cool.

I am having problems removing the calcium deposits on my 40L tank that I am rebuilding. I have used both phosphoric acid as well as muriatic acid to no avail. I am beginning to think that the glass is actually etched. Any ideas of what else to try?

definately let it cure for 48 hours. i got too excited with mine and tried to leap in too soon and ended up having to reseel.
