Hey everyone, i'm getting a new tank and i am just doing some research. I was considering pirahna, probably the common red belly variety.

The tank is a Juwel rio 240 which is 240 litres (63.5 gallons). The tank will be filtered with the juwel standar H filter that filters 600 litres per hour and an external fluval 405 filter which filters 1300 litres per hour. Overall if my calculations are correct on both filters the tank will be filtered at 1900 litres per hour (hope that is right!)

I wanted to know if i could keep pirahna in this tank. I would have thought about 12 baby red bellies and then after a few most probably die from canilbalism in the end i will probably keep 5-6.

Would this be possible?

Thanks :)

is it a standard retangular shaped tank? you have these fancy names that get me confused LOL.

but to answer your question, the answer is yes.

incase you're new to fish keeping, you have to cycle your tank before adding your desired tank inhabitants.

I have some experienc with fish and i know about cycles etc, thanks for the thought though.

The tank is your regular rectangle and measures : 121 x 55 x 41 cm

So does my idea about numbers sound good. Also is that filtration adequte, i think it is but i'm not 100%

Thanks a lot for the reply:)

The standard on rbp's is usually 3 in a 55 US gallon tank.

The filtration sounds good, but you will still need to keep up regular water changes, since most p's are very messy depending on what you are feeding them.

So how many RP's would you guys suggest for me to buy for a 63 gallon tank?

I will probably get them as babies.
