Are you setting this tank up in Korea or the States man?

Multiple NGT's tends to end badly. Maybe replace one with a Chinese Perch? That'd be badass.

For an Arowana, you could do a Black or a Leichardtii, or if it's Korea, a Gold or something fancy like that.

For middle level activity, maybe Dorados? They may be to volatile for a tank like this, but you could try it.

If you're in Korea, i'd definitely also add some Pleuro snakeheads. Some of the best looking fish out there. That would be an awesome addition.

For bottom dwellers, Pacmans, Tig's, Rays, Poly's, anything.

Maybe like:

3x Azul
3x Kelberi
1x NGT
1x Chinese Perch
2x IT
3x Tiger Rays
3x Pleuros (if it's in Korea) or 3x Orinos (if it's in Bmore)
1x Tig
5x Endli's
1x Leichadtii

That would be the nicest tank ever. If you set this up in MD, you gotta invite me to drive over there and check it out, man. :D

If you like the cichla, I would definitely look into the Orinos. Once they are adults, they are one of the most beautiful of the cichla. Kelberi, Azul, and Orino are the most colorful and worth while of the Cichla Family. You might also look into Temensis Cichla as they are the biggest. As you can tell by my name, I have a little more favor toward the cichla.

A Black Arowana would really top it off with the stock list that you were already looking into. You just have to be careful with as many cichla you would have with your Aro, as it would be a power struggle for food.

Good luck on your hardship tour. I was up near the DMZ and at Casey for a while before I went back to Fort Hood with the 1st Cav. Korea is actually pretty fun.

Little Bro GoBucks - I will be doing research on some of the fish you listed, I havent heard of most of them. You know before I found my Flowerhorn addiction I was only into Central and South American Cichlids. I didnt venture beyond that. I still have my Flowerhorns, however my monster tank will serve and my nautral tank, and also my cull tank. You should come check me out when I get everything up and running.

PBM - Thanks for info bro. I have never really been a fan of Cichla until now. Im a big Flowerhornist, practicing breeder. So between the Flowerhorns that I cull and the 150G with 2 pair of Convicts (Thinking about adding a thrid or a pair of Jewels) I should be good on food. What do you think? I also have a 55/40L double set up that Im thinking about adding Guppies and Tetras to. What do you think?

I know man, and you sure as hell know your flowerhorns.

And i will, no doubt. :D

definitely looks into the Polypterus genus. in a tank that size it would almost be a crime to not include two Polypterus Bichir Bichir. cant belive i forgot them in my initial list.

also have a few more species to add to the possibles (was actually just trying to find one or two more species for my tank and these came to mind :P

Polypterus Sp. (as i mentioned before P. Bichir Bichir would be a must for me)
Jungle Perch (Hampala Sp. or while were on the subject of gaint crypnids, Tor Sp. as well)
Shovelnose Sturgeon (handles tropical temperatures quite well, kinda hard to find in the trade tho, as in, ive looked for years and had no luck.....)
Knifefish Sp. (Particualrly Papyrocranus Afer or any of the Chitala/Notopterus Sp. but there are quite literally dozens of other cantidates)
Esox sp. (a native genus, but chains seem to handle tropical temps just fine)

and again, im sure theres more im forgetting....its kinda late here in cali....

the possibilites are practically endless in a tank like that. and of course, im just listing species that appeal to me, theres a TON more out there that simply doesnt catch my eye. .....

Hey German, are you really German? Hey, the Sturgeon that you mentioned, their legal right? Im asking because Im stationed in Korea and the LFS here has a tank full of them.

GoBucks, my project is a year in the making. Once everything is done we can work something out. Let me know if I need to pick you up.

Also I never like Birchir... until now. Once again thank you to the few people that decided to help me out.

Oh yeah my list has changed just a bit, thanks again guys. New confirmed.

2 Datnioides AT
2 Datnioides IT
2 Cichla Azul
2 Cichla Kelberis
1 Albino/Leucistic RTC

Im still thinking about the Aro, Im going to hold off because I want an Asian. Hopefully the will be legal soon. I mean I have access to them, however I dont access to the fine that comes with them. LOL

Im still deciding on the Birchirs. I dont want Rays.

nope, not german, took it in highschool, dont remember any of it. the username is the only one i can ever remember, still use it for everything 4 years later.....:screwy:

are they shovelnose sturgeon or some other species? shovelnose have a very pronounced snout and a long trailer on the tailfin. but yea, completely legal in baltimore (used to live on the east coast, spent a bit of time and kept quite a few fish in Bowie, MD) if i remember correctly.

any chance u cud snap a pic of the sturgeon at that LFS in korea? even if they arnt shovelnose id love to see if it was a US native species or one of the few remaining species in asia.....

As long as convict pairs arent duking it out over territory, you can add another pair. As long as there is common ground in the middle of the tank for them (natural barrier) you can breed them and sustain your food supply. I breed convicts and fancy guppies. Easiest and you get the most out of a successful spawn.

PBM - I think I will just keep the 2 pair. If I need another pair I will put them in the 40L and use the 55 to growout the fry. I should get a pair of Salvini, but Im not sure if they breed as much. I heard Jewels are the same, but I dont know anything about them.

GR - I will snap those pictures for you tomorrow. Look for them Friday afternoon in a thread called. "Trip To My LFS (Korea)" I may even get a video for ya!

Just an idea, another very cool bottom dweller for your tank could be the Myxocyprinus asiaticus (chinese high fin banded shark). Like the sturgeon these guys come from temperate water, but seem to do well in trop. tanks. They also get big enough that the RTC wouldn't look at it as a food source. Good luck man.
