There's a really good deal on craigslist for a 75 gallon tank that I really want.... But then hits responsibility. I'm a college student looking for a job, and if i got another tank i would have to get a smaller desk and put the tank where the desk currently is. As far as money for the tank I think I could probably pull it off as an early christmas present, seeing as how the whole set up is only $150...

So here's all that's included:

75 Gallon Tank (says only 2 years old)
Black Wood Stand (from petco)
Rena XP3 Filter
AC 110
Stealth 250 Watt Heater
Python Water Changing Kits

Making room would be difficult but doable.. It really comes down to the fact that those filters alone when new cost more than the entire setup combined... I'm considering sending an E-mail trying to get specifics and asking if it has a hood/light included... I really want it... dunno how often deals like this come around as new as it is..

What do you guys think? Go forward with wreckless abandon or be responsible? If I get it I'm probably going to get a GT, Delhezi Bichir, and a Palmas Bichir

I would do it in my opinion. I am in the same situation as you. Unemployed college student...(living at home)...

Although i have some saved money and i have my means of making money...(Nothing illegal....mods :)) but when it comes to my fish i always jump on a deal.

Just recently bought a 75 gallon and a bunch of crap for an unbelievable price. I had to dip into my savings but once it is all set up my fish who are in my 29 gallon will be much happier and i get to get some more fish :D

yeah im incredibly tempted... probably going to E-mail the seller and then talk to my dad about it tomorrow.. just can't really pass that kind of deal up lol

Exactly. Me and my dad drove an hour to get my 75 gallon.

I actually did some minor estimate calculations to see what kind of deal i really got. Lets just say if i purchased all the stuff i got new it would have been over a thousand dollars. I got it all for 150.

A deal is a deal don't let it pass up

I don't know how many deals I've had to let slip on CL here :\ I don't have space or money for them.

I would go for it personally. I would rather have a smaller desk for a fish tank.

It doesn't strike me as very responsible to spend money on a HOBBY when you're unemployed. That said, it has been A LONG time since I was a college student so maybe that's just what kids do today.

I talked to my dad about it, gonna let this one pass there will always be more deals on craigslist :|

^ Thats what I have to keep telling myself.

If my apartment weren't overcrowded already I'd be all over this. I could just sell a few pieces of guitar equipment that I don't use any more and be all over it. I guess at worst I could set it up at my dads house. Mom would be down for it because I'd have to be over there a couple times a week:p

I really just need to start thinking about getting a separate tank for my JD & a few others from my 65 stock, the wife isn't really on board for more tanks at the moment though:\

yeah i hear ya... its a shame though, the AC110 alone is like 80-90 bucks new :\
