Wow -----------can you list what all tanks you have and how many gallons total your fish house is. --------At first i was reading about the mildew problem and i did not understand because I have what i call a fish room with about 6 tanks and have never had a problem in 5years. But now i understand.----------It looks amazing.

1x65
4x55
8x40
5x30 long
3x29
16 x20
5x15
1562 gallons not including the betta barracks or the other tanks in the house.:headbang2

Gotta get some more lighting in there as well. While doing waterchanges I notice in a dark corner in a driftwood packed tank my chanchito had spawned finally.I didnt even know they paired off!
Tanks a little tannic and in the dark corner Ive just been tossing in food and doing waterchanges waiting for them to grow a bit and not really being able to see in the tank! Was vaccing the sand yesterday and saw a cloud of fry!!!:headbang2

Id use a bathroom ventilation fan to exhaust air out constantly and make sure you have a passive air intake. I have been a heating ventilation air conditioning tech for years. This would save you money over running multiple fans and a dehumidifier. Dehumidifiers are expensive to run.

That crossed my mind but as is the dehumidifyer provides most of the heat.If I has a constant exaust fan id have to add another elecrtic space heater, which would kill any savings. The rest of the basement is in the mid 50s this time of year.

One quick question what would your best guess at the winter temperature in your fish room?
I'm curious have kept aquariums since the early 1970, DH will not allow any more aquarium in house so I have one in greenhouse and another one about to start up. Hence the lowest temp your basement gets. Here in the south we rarely see basements....would kill for one. Great room!!!!!
Thank You Karen

 Boy was I surprised to see this on page one of the new posts!Im a bit past stage one.Ive changed stuff again since the last update and am in the process of moving a sump and some tanks again this week! Will do a new thread with all new photos in a few weeks.

The fishroom is pretty well insulated, the rest of the basement does drop into the 50s.For the most part as long as I keep the doors closed I can keep the temp in there at 76-80 all year.Only have to run the electric heat in there on the coldest of days, single digits or below.I have a pellet stove in the main part of the basement that gets fired up when temps go below 20.
