I'm Where I'm At
I first heard of this months ago and recently saw an article about a place in Canada that did this, then got major backlash from angry parents, and lifted the ban. while some supported them, the backlash was enough for the restaurant to change it's mind.

I understand that people want to enjoy a nice quiet dinner but i'm also a parent of small children. I can understand both sides.

but honestly, for me personally, it's not a big deal when i'm out dining and there are loud children. it just doesn't bother me that much when there are loud babies or children in a restaurant. theaters is different, I need to pay attention to what i'm watching, but in a restaurant it doesn't bother me. i'm fine with it in an airplane as well.

I'm just wondering how you guys feel about it because this really pisses some people off (the diners that have to hear other people's children)

As long as my kids are in there seats mate and not running around the Resturant I think this really does bother other diners and is a little unfair , I don't mind if there being loud mate tbh basic table manners and respecting others we've always taught them so it's not so bad with my two , adults get a bit loud after a few drinks too I suppose so we can't be hating on the kids lol

I think banning is a little extreme, however, I think it wouldn't hurt anyone to just politely ask the family to keep their children quiet if it's that big of a deal. After all, don't you think they'd lose a lot of business from families with young kids?

I remember reading about such establishments a few years back. So, nothing new really. I have kids and I'm actually all for this. If my kids act up and can't behave, I feel it is out of courtesy for others that we leave.......then open up a can of whipa$$ once we get home lol

As a non parent this is all I really ask for, keep them seated and make a little effort if getting too rambunctious. When kids are running around like it's a play ground I usually start making very loud comments like "its a shame these kids don't have real parents". Luckily most restaurants have a bar section where kids aren't allowed so I get to hide in there.

As some one who works in a Restaurant there is nothing worse then out of control kids. Not only do they ruin the dining experience for the guests but they destroy things (mainly in the toilets where they don't get caught doing it, but the mess that needs cleaning up can be horrible), but they can set all the staff on edge, and even when you get to work in a happy mood can ruin the day for you.
The worst part is that the parents of out of control kids are usually a pain, and will rage at you if you so much as suggest to the kids that maybe they don't want to be running around tripping people up and moving things around.

Other then that crying babies are enough to set me and a number of other staff on edge, but I wouldn't go as far as to say they need banning.

I see far too many cases out in public where parents seem to exercise too little control over their children. Some parents seem to be of the opinion that their child is entitled to run around and act act as if they are in a park or playground no matter where they are.I feel that unless the child is a toddler he/she should have some training or idea of how to behave in public.
