That ID shark playing dead only did you a favor. They grow way too big for either of the tanks in your sig. BTW your 75g has the dimensions of a 60g tank
Went into a lfs for some ich meds for cats. My sister had a terrible case of ich for while. And the worker came over and asked me if i needed help. I told her what was going on and the stock of the tank (which at the time included an ID shark)
She picked up some meds and said not to worry about catfish safe meds because the ID shark was not a catfish but was actually a type of carp.
I've only been there once since.
(colorado peeps it was south broadway tropicals)
Oh and i have both seen and heard of ID sharks playing dead. Thats why they never lasted long in my tanks. Bichir got to em thinking they had stumbled on a quick snack. (dont worry got there in time to watch the bichir spit it out. didnt think it was worth the trouble apparently)
hmmm Learn something new everyday... I've never had even one do that... I've bagged prob 200 of them and never once had one pass out...Mind you I only use bulk shipping bags for taking them to the Shop but still, guess I have the magic touch

That's the first time Ive ever heard of that either, still I'd be worried if I saw ANY fish doing that.
And yeah I do realize that, I just felt bad for it so I wanted to care for him for a bit because I know he wouldn't have done well in that shop at all. There's plenty of fish farms and trustworthy LFS down here that would've easily taken him if he got too big so I wasn't worried.
I measured my 75 gallon myself, should be correct. If anything I'll change it later.
Yeah my dad bought a couple one time. Guy bagged em and as we were standing in line one of them went belly up in the bag. Went back to the tank. Guy dumped the bag out. Dont ask why he dumped the bag with a "dead fish" back into the tank. but he did. The damn thing turned right back over and swam back into the swarm of ID sharks.
I swear i wouldnt believe it if i hadnt seen it with my own eyes.
I went to one LFS and every ID shark that was bagged there would play dead...I got mine from another one and they were fine the whole time. All depends I guess
