did you mean black worms or blood worms?

she may have parasite like an intestinal worm that is keep her skinny. have you ever wormed her? If I had a ray that ate like a champ but was getting skinnier and skinnier I would assume intestinal worms and use prazi pro to kill them.

also, how high is the temp? if too high, like mid to high 80's she might just be metabolizing the food super fast!

When I had P. reticulata I had the best luck when i minced (chopped, reduced etc) the food into the smallest pieces possible. I then thawed a bloodworm cube and poured it over the minced shrimp/smelt/earthworms, let is baste overnight unrefrigerated. I then froze it on a cookie sheet (spread thin for easier breaking of pieces).

Ultimately persistence will overcome any challenges you may have with getting her to eat new foods.

*before I forget, do a search here on prazipro etc to find a possible cure to her ever "thinning" problem.

Absolutely! And the mincing is the key..You can never mince it too much. I literally make it a "snow" like consistency.

we used to have a thread here with tips for breaking rays to new foods.... hmm

I did chop up the earthworms last night and cut little tiny pcs of silversides and mixed it with a good amount of bloodworms... nothing.

She is currently bathing in PraziPro (as she was W/C)

Ill try to mince and do the over night thing again.

Thanks for all the tips, ill keep updates

By the way, my temp is 84*

I did not know she was WC and not prazi'd yet...that is always step 1 especially if it looks like it has issues with weight. (I am far from pro, but I think that is accurate)

When I first got her about a month ago, 2 days later she was bathing in PraziPro.
I am getting ready to add her to my 300 and I am just bathing her once more just to make sure...

So if she had anything, hopefully it was taken care of the first time

Right on bro, best of luck with all of the tips. Patients is the last thing I would suggest. She will be just fine.

i don't think there is anything wrong with her, she is just a VERY picky eater.

Another thing you should add is she gave birth prematurely TWICE, in which 0/3 of her pups made it.

Good luck eric, I hope she gets off live.. :( Have you tried mealworms?
