Yes, once you get them eating different foods that is. Thats your main concern. If you are unlucky, the money you spend trying to get just 1 good retic that actually eats could actually buy you one if not 2 motoros especially if this is your first ray.Vincentii;3753334; said:

ya. i think i might go with the motoro if the price is reasonable at my lfs. if neither price is reasonable im going with a cat (lima) instead
go motoro spend the extra money for a healthier ray. plus the motoro personality seems to be better than the retic in my opinion also. plus if you cant negotiate down the price at the lfs try to find somebody to ship.
well you guys got me pretty convinced on spending extra for motoro. tank size was my main concern with money in a close second. im trying to find motoro's around canada that can ship incase my lfs comes back and gives me a really high price. but not having too much luck. anyone know of anywhere?
Definitely motoro, some stay smaller than others so a 2 foot wide tank should be okay. Even if it costs $150 for a healthy one at the lfs it is still worth it. You can find them for around $100 on the net but then you have 60-80 in shipping charges.

I had the same question. I went with 2 retics so I could have a male and female. They play together all the time. I always buy fish in 2 or more, pref male and female.
