hey guys, on tuesday i picked up my new reticulated stingray. it has been about 3 days and he has not eaten. i have tried redworms, ghostshrimp, krill, and sinking shrimp pellets. he will swim over the food but i dont know if he is even trying to actually eat the food. the lfs said he was eating worms but i dont really believe them. he looks a little thin and i am just starting to get a little worried. he is only about 5". the tank params are fine. could it just be stressed out because he is new? thanks.

Have you tried live black worms? If a ray refuses live BWs something is seriously wrong!

i cant find them anywhere. how do i get them?

order offline... but you could just ask a LFS to order you some.. or get earthworms.

Blackworms are your best bet to get him eating.

Go with black worms, my rays are afraid of earthworms.... once they touch the earth worm they freak out and swim away as fast as they can.

Sounds like a wimpy ray. mine pounces like a cat..

when my female retic was a teacup( 3" disk) she would only accept sliced up earthworms, because the full size was too much for her at once. But now with her disk atleast at 7" she sucks down full nightcrawlers like i would a noodle.

Now my NTT's are giving her a run for her money with the worms and Dillies.

But i cant get my ray to eat anything else.. except ghost shrimp.

Try some ghost shrimp!
