No they are not. Even a beginner can keep them but some beginner are so clueless that the LFS will give them mis info and end keeping them in a small tank.
 
I have 2 little ones, maybe 3.5" they do bond, and kinda mingle with the ABK that they are with currently. I always know when it's a ret. knife, as they swim differently that the ABK's do. Cool to see what it'll end up looking like in your first post.

My fav. knife by far. I have a few right now with some Anguilla sp. eels, the only thing I've been able to keep with them thus far. They've killed the dither cichlids I kept with them :eek:

I used to feed mine prawn and pacific smelt. Will also eat massivores. The more the get used to the environment the more they eat and come out.
