Reticulated ray tank ideas

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hey guys, one more question. We were thinking of going with reticulated but are there any other rays that would work in this 4' x 4' tank? Motoros or hystrix?

Hey guys, thanks for the help earlier. We just got our tank this weekend and have to wait for a couple weeks to let the silicone cure. It's a rimless 4'x4'x16" tank and has 3/4" thick glass. I'm thinking of using a Rena XP3 and a couple sponge filters with powerheads. Any other suggestions?

Also, what kind of sand is the best to use for retics?

with almost 180 gallon capacity, I say you should just get a fx5 and rid yourself of the sponge filters. Saves you a ton of trouble later on when u want to add a bigger bioload IMO. Id also recommend you keep the sand for now. Since its your first ray, the simpler your system is, the easier maintenance will go.
