Reticulated Stingray and an Overprotective Mom

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Only time you're gonna get stung is moving it into or out of the tank...

lol, tell your mom you want chain mail gloves for christmas.
Just be cautious, and never EVER think that your stingray knows you so well and knows you aren't going to hurt it and that you can pet it or whatever because of that. That is probably the biggest mistake when ray keepers become too comfortable and throw caution to the wind. It is easy to do with how cute they are, and how the come to you when they know it is feeding time yada yada yada, but always remember that they are capable of stinging you and causing HORRIBLE pain if nothing else. :)

my mom doesn't know that they can go through gloves...:naughty: But I can't wait to go get it. My school is closed today, so my dad is taking me in about an hour to go pick it up. It's marked at $100, but with coupons and discounts I'm getting it for $55!:nilly:SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Haha, congrats!

Where are you at in MI? What pet store? I used to live in Michigan, just curios if I know the place or not?

I'm in Rochester Hills, but I'm buying the ray at Kee's Aquarium and Pets. I also but fish at Choice Aquariums. Kee's has more variety, but Choice Aquariums has champion discus...:nilly::nilly::nilly::nilly::nilly::nilly::nilly::nilly: Also, does anyone know if Needlefish would go well with these fish. I really find them interesting, but will they injure the discus or ray?

Hmm, never been to those. I would always hit up preuss pets in Lansing.

No experience with needlefish.

I just picked up my gorgeous male reticulated stingray pup! He's gorgeous and he eats like a pig, eating beefheart, bloodworms, blackworms, feeders, ghost shrimp, krill, silversides, and shrimp chunks! SO HAPPY!!!!! He stung the bag though, so his spine is unsheathed, and is very visible.
