Retroculus Lapidifer

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Great looking fish! Love seeing the regular updates, also cool to see the stand build as I may have to build one in the future.

How is the aggression on these guys compared to geophagus or satanoperca?

Thanks! For the stand check out videos on youtube from “The King of Diy” he has a bunch of video on building stands and that is where I learned. As for the aggression of the fish the dominant fish of the group will chase after the others here and there but nothing crazy it more of just a dominance thing. Pretty much the same as most geophagus and eartheaters. When I had Retroculus years ago they were in a community tank with altifrons and red head tapajos and they all got along great

Cool, I'll check out his videos, I've built racks before, so shouldn't be too bad, but always good to see examples of what works.

Thanks for the info on the retroculus, sounds like a typical cichlid. I've got some young B. Cupido, S. Mapiritensis and G. Sveni in growout tanks right now, waiting to find their long term tank, hopefully I'll have space for more when they're moved.

The boys are finally in their new home. The 3 Xinguensis are going to stay in the 75 gallon for a while until I am sure the BB is well established in the new tank. Waiting on some driftwood for the tank. Not sure how I want to scape it just yet. I will get more pics when they are settled in.8F1CBB88-8990-441B-9422-E4F0E4A0E62F.jpeg75ACE675-B02B-490D-92E9-3DD241BF1C53.jpeg

The Lapidifers are loving the new tank. And eating like pigs. The biggest one is starting to get some new dots on the top of his caudal fin. Im thinking a few more months and they will start showing some red there.
