Just wondering if anyone here has fixed a leak on a pressurized line without cutting the pipe out? I'm running low on space at this juncture and I'm trying to not lose the fittings. So, for those that have tried it, what did you do and did it work?

It's cemented and evidently I did a poor job. I'm new to plumbing tanks as I've always done hobs, canisters, or sponges before.

Edit: I'll get a pic after work so that everyone can see what I'm dealing with.

How much is is leaking? Are we talking a steady stream? A drip every few seconds? A few drips a min?

The reason I ask, if it is a small leak it will eventually seal itself. I set up my 150 gal on the first floor with sumps in the basement. As it was going through the floor and in a corner it was hard to properly glue. Because of that I ended up with a very slow drip, about one ever 15 seconds. I wrapped some towels around it for a couple days and it sealed itself from minerals in the water. It no longer leaks at all.

That said, if it is dripping any quicker or you have soft water with low dissolved solids that may not work. If that is the case you will need to cut it out and reglue pieces.

you could use marine 2 part epoxy.. i did it

It's the connection between a valve and a 45.

Everything is glued except the connection to the bulkhead which is threaded. I should have planned the whole thing better and had a union there, but such is plumbing-virginity. The leak is a fast drip under pressure, probably a drop a second, so I can't just let it go.

Could I get a link to what you used?

the above is with the pump on.. if you dont have fish or you can lower the water level and turn the pump off, then 1 or 2 coats will do just fine..

make sure you go all the way around or the leak will find its way through.

This worked great for me when I glued a joint poorly
