I used Mag Drives for about 20 years, good work horse pumps, and easy to get parts for, I have had to replace a couple impellers and volutes over that time. They do hum/and vibrate, so as they have started to get worn out, I've started using Laguna.
Laguna are quieter, use less power, and I like the large screen compartment that covers the pump, it keeps out the objects (snails, stones , etc) that can get in and damage moving parts. I use the 2000+gph models.
The only thing I don't like, (because I prefer to hard plumb with PVC) is that they are not threaded, and need tubing. Below, a Luguna in its cage.
