Returning back to the Shark World with a new tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hey guys.... looking to put in a banded hound, epaulette and maybe a ray/skate/guitar. I would love to have a leopard, but buying a pup isn't legal and a 3ft is pushing the limits of this size tank. Hoping to find a deal on some lookdowns to add in a group of something schooling (open to ideas here this is where Matt can tell me if I am going the right direction or not).

Come to Thailand and buy a 2 foot black tip to throw in there for a while!

I think that leopard sharks get 5 foot. There is a MASSIVE one in the national aquarium

Yeah, it's too small for even the youngest of black tip reef pups.

Atlantic guitar would be awesome in there.

Lookdowns are great filler fish, the trick is getting them cleaned up after being caught. They tend to break out with junk quickly. Let me toss out the idea of French grunts for you to think about. They're fairly cheap, hardy, schooling, colorful, ship well and will fill the water column up.

The stock list does look pretty good i would say you are on point and you are right a leo would look good in there but they just get a little to big to be comfortable in the tank. As already stated and as we all know a BTR is far too active for such a footprint. And lookdowns are an awesome fish and hardy eaters but like zoodiver said they often come in with a bunch of different junk. The french grunts or blue stripped grunts would be a nice add

Baltimore? They have it promted on the tickets, at least last time I was there the thing was massive! Looked like it could eat some of the great cudas in the pond.

Can't wait to see this thing done, never saw a guitarfish in a home setup, subbed

Would love the french grunts and have tried some in the past from Turbo, but they did horrible in shipping. I would have to find someone fairly local to drive to with a tank/aerator or o2 tank. PS I'm gonna be in Orlando around memorial day. Wish I could have it cycled by then and pick up livestock down south.
