Returning back to the Shark World with a new tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No worries just messing with ya!

Working on getting a feeding time video for you guys but really need to borrow another phone that doesn't have this insane blue issues the new iphone does.

Filtration update....moved it all into a room behind the tank. Nerve racking drilling holes in the wall hahahaha. After some issues with unions(eliminated most of them), moved the pump and wallaaaa its finally done. New Reeflo pump, supplying water to the Ultima 2 bead filter and the EV1000 protein skimmer. The skimmer is sitting in a rubbermaid stock tank with overflow back into the main tank. I will try to get some photos of this madness hahaha. Everyone in the tank is doing good besides the grouper picking on the hawkfish

Finally got a feeding video  commentary from my Dad :screwy:

Great vid, great setup! Made me reminisce about marbled, and bamboo sharks I had yrs ago.:)

I'll have to watch your video sometime on a computer where youtube isn't blocked for me, but it sounds like a nice setup. You are really going to like having the filtration in another room. What problems did you have with unions that you eliminated as many as you could? I am assuming you are talking about the sch 40 unions you get at a home depot type place. I never liked them either. I use Spears sch 80 unions on everything, whether it be on sch 80 or sch 40 pipe, and I really like them --- no more union problem, except that you can't just buy them at a hardware store.

That could have been the problem Riley, but partly had alignment issues and then sealing issues. The main problem was the threads on the bead filter (way too sloppy) which caused me to take it apart twice in order to fix the problem. I had to get thicker heavy duty thread tape in multiple layers to finally stop the tiny leak drip. Partly me being picky and partly design flaw on the ultima 2. But for now it is great having things in a seperate room!

Has anyone told you that your catshark is the recently named Spotted-belly Catshark(Atelomycterus erdmanni). It previously had been thought to be a variation of the Coral Catshark.

Ahhh had no idea! Good info there thanks for that! KRJ/Riley
