I used to have a nice planted tank, not super fancy but i liked it. got a new job, and just didnt have the time to keep it pruned.

it ended up getting over grown, and i got planaria that killed all my beautiful shrimp.

But decided to revive it. But without the bottles this time.
First pics are the sad remnents. Next pics of the new setup. Broke out the mini canister this time.:D

Any suggestions for plants? Im thinking some dwarf grass. Lights are strong but not super, will have a DIY co2 and ferts.

ps, yes its cloudy. just set it up last night. its slowly getting clearer

micro sword work?

I tried micro swords a few months back. they take an incredibly long time to get going. i had them for two months and saw a tiny bit of growth. most of the time they were sending roots/runner underground. meanwhile the old growth was covered in algae because it wasnt growing anymore. it can be done, but you need to have a lot of patience.
