Reviving a Canister Filter

Get a cheap bag of guppies ($2.25/24+ around here) to cycle it, they survive anything fresh or salt water. Once the ammonia and nitrate levels drop to zero, it's done. There is no exact time, it's just whenever there are enough bacteria.

Cycling a new tank will take from 3 to 6 weeks usually.

Well after i released my turtle it was in my garage for 3 months. I inspected it and everything seems fine. I dont like using bleach cuz i heard it could be harmful. Should i just set everything up and start it?
