Rhino iguana...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
that enclosures pretty sweet.
so ur puttin the lights on the side? id just leave the top open....

Yes, the lights will be on the side, where the screen is.

I'm actually contemplating removing the glass door and replacing it with a DIY screen door. The glass door is only 1/8" glass, and is bowing across the 34" span. That wouldn't worry me, except our cats LOVE to jump up on top of anything they can reach, and I can just envision a cat crashing through the glass onto the iggy's back...

Maybe I'll leave the door raised open and just rest a screen on top of the opening...

Anyways, it looks like the iggy should be coming home with me after work on Friday!

Argh, I wish it were tomorrow already so I could bring him home!

I'm thinking more and more about removing the glass door and building a screen door in its place. This would increase airflow through the tank, though, and might result in lower temps and humidity. Would that be a problem?

i dont see it being a problem. i have a screen top on my cage and mine has been fine. Rhinos i find do not need the super humidity that green igg need. i mist mine every few days and thats about all. and i havea bowl of water in there at all times so im sure that adds a little humidity as well.

Cool. I'll see how comfortable I am with the door the way it is, and the lights being on the side. If I don't like it or don't feel its safe, then I'll remove the door and replace it with screen instead.

Thanks Mike!

I'll be bringing home the iguana today! Yay! I'm super excited, and its going to be torture having to stay at work until 5... argh!

You can be sure of that! I'll start taking pics as soon as I get home, and post them as soon as I can. We're babysitting my goddaughter tonight too, so it should be interesting!
