Planning to replace the two LMB I have in my 55 gallon with piranha.

was thinking about rbps or caribes but they grow too fast and I may not able to get a big enough tank for them on time.

so that pretty much leaves me with Serrasalmus.

My choices are either Sanchezi or Rhom.

I think Sanchezi can fit in a 55 gallon for life and Rhom grows very slowly, so if I start with a small one it can last me a while until I get a bigger tank. any idea on the growth rate of Rhom in a 55 gallon?

any suggestions? if someone has both, how different are they? read some info on them but would like to hear from owners.

many thanks in advance.

If you get a 5" or so rhom he will be able to live in that tank for a VERY long time.
I wouldn't expect his aggressiveness to be anywhere on par with a LMB, until of course hes a 16" monster.

my LMBs are only aggressive toward each other around feeding time. (wuss)

so Rhom won't show any signs of aggressiveness when they are small?

what about Sanchezi?

I would go with a sanch. Rhoms are boring unless you buy a monster one. Sanchezy can be very colorful and down right mean! Also, depending on your experience level and deication, its POSSIBLE to cohab sanchezi. You will need to densley pack the tank with plants and dithers though.

Thanks JD7.62.

That's my initial plan but some of the Rhom pics I saw just got me hooked. (especially the blue diamond rhom)

will probably use the 55 gallon for Sanchezi and get an other bigger one for Rhom and a even bigger one for a shoal of pygos.

will a 75 gallon or 90 gallon tank house a rhom for life if I get it around 8"

Thanks, will see if I can find one when the time comes.

Rhoms can be real sissys when they are younger. Tons of people go out and buy them after they are inspired by the monsters.. Then are disappointed. If you are patient, or you have a ton of money, they are pretty awesome 10"+.

come to think of it, saw one at lfs a while ago, around 4" and was kind of shy..
