that is very on topic, you said that you were informed that you would be getting a rhom that can fit in a 20 gallon for life, if that's the case, you were misinformed
yeah, if you buy a small rhom, it'll grow fast up until about 6" then it will slow down and top off around 10". growing rhoms past 10" maybe 12" tops just doesn't happen in captivity.koop171;1570856; said:don't rhoms grow really really slow after like 6or 7"
im going to have to disagreeJoeDizzleMPLS;1573230; said:i think it will actually be more important to figure out how much you're gonna be willing to spend up front. if you wanna keep things cheap up front, go with a shoal of reds and you'll be happy. if you wanna spend a bit more, go with a mixed shoal and you'll be happy. if you wanna spend a few hundred up front, buy a large rhom and you'll be happy. that is the advice that i would give for stocking the 125... obviously if you get small pygos, you can start them out in the smaller tanks, but if you wanna really fill that 125 eventually, buying a small rhom is probably not what you wanna do because you said you already had concerns about having only one smaller fish in a huge tank. if you have your heart set on a large rhom, you're gonna have to spend the dough up front to get it, don't have false hopes about raising a little 2" rhom up to a 16" monster, cuz it ain't gonna happen.
you can disagree all you want, but that doesn't change the fact that you're not gonna grow a 5 or 6 inch rhom past 10-12". rhoms don't reach those lengths in captivity, it has been tried many times by many responsible keepers. check out opefe for more info on that.dzb912;1575562; said:im going to have to disagree
